Comfort is determined by the temperature and relative humidity. True comfort is achieved by heat radiating from warm bodies, not necessarily by heating the inside air. Overheating the air increases the relative humidity, which means a damp air that requires dehumidification. Therefore, the radiated heat associated with a drier air is the most favorable option. The heat is accumulated in the building, including the interior walls, floors, ceilings, and the exterior walls. The building envelope has the difficult task of interacting with the outside environment.
Because of the interior thermo-insulating, the exterior walls lose the ability to accumulate and radiate the central temperature heat. Although warming up an inside-insolated room can be done very quickly and create the impression of energy savings, it lacks true comfort.
Comfort degradation is just an inconvenient side effect, but the main drawback is the inevitable condensation behind the installed interior, permeable thermo-insulations.
During winter time, the exterior wall insulated on the inside cools down gretly, receiving a large cold flow. On the inside, the air is kept warm and humid, and the warm vapors are pushed by the relative pressure difference through the permeable insulation. A consistent vapor flow crosses the permissive materials and insulation and condenses immediately behind it. This is where the most dangerous mold grows in the very least oxygenated environment between the finished interior and the wall.
Insulations based on mineral wool and cellulose (the most porous materials for construction) are recommended on a large scale, with the single specification that a vapor barrier should be applied in the warm area.
The condensation occurs behind the insulation on the surface of the structure wall which becomes the condensation plane. EIOS Inside is an Over Specified Thermo-Insulation System for interior application that eliminates condensation by creating a Non-Permissive Thermo-Insulating Assembly (NP-IA).
The achievement of this assembly is ensured by applying the XPS boards with the EIOS invented Sealboard Joint Assembly to facilitate interior and exterior sealing. EIOS Sealboard panels can be considered as having zero permeability. An NP-IA is obtained through the high thermal resistance R-value and the EIOS Sealboard properties.
