According to the logic of engineering and state of the art, the thermal insulation is applied to the exterior of the building in order to keep the inside temperature of the whole structure steady and more comfortable as well to protect the building enclosure from the exterior environment.
Because of the interior thermo-insulating, the exterior walls lose the ability to accumulate and radiate the central temperature heat. Although warming up an inside-insolated room can be done very quickly and create the impression of energy savings, it lacks true comfort.
Comfort degradation is just an inconvenient side effect, but the main drawback is the inevitable condensation behind the installed interior, permeable thermo-insulations.
During winter time, the exterior wall insulated on the inside cools down gretly, receiving a large cold flow. On the inside, the air is kept warm and humid, and the warm vapors are pushed by the relative pressure difference through the permeable insulation. A consistent vapor flow crosses the permissive materials and insulation and condenses immediately behind it. This is where the most dangerous mold grows in the very least oxygenated environment between the finished interior and the wall.
Insulations based on mineral wool and cellulose (the most porous materials for construction) are recommended on a large scale, with the single specification that a vapor barrier should be applied in the warm area.
The condensation occurs behind the insulation on the surface of the structure wall which becomes the condensation plane. Without the interior insulation, in the cold season vapors diffuse in the mass of structural walls where they condensate and dry out in the warm season, according to the moisture contol concepts. For interior-insulated envelope walls, the drying is not done over the course of a specific amount of time and drainage or ventilation can not be taken into consideration. The condensed water reaches extreme amounts.
There are, however, few situations in which inside thermal insulation is recommended or preferred.
For these situations, the only solution that can be applied is EIOS Inside - the Elimination of Condensation Technology, based on the Principle of Avoiding Condensation.
When inside insulation is chosen, the only solution to solve the problem of condensation forming behind the insulation is the EIOS Inside Non-Permissive thermo-Insulating Assembly (NP-IA) as a single innovative engineering solution that is able to ensure the operation of the insulation on the inside.
One might ask, "What happens behind the non-permissive thermo-insulation?"
In answer to that, the support wall remains dry as well when using the EIOS Inside. The vapors do not pass through the NP-IA; instead, an inevitable, low heat flow passes through, and this heat increases the temperature behind the Thermosystem. This generally causes vapor to migrate to the cooler area. Thus, the wall dries behind the EIOS Inside Thermosystem, unlike all the other systems that damp because of condensation.
EIOS Inside is especially recommended for ceilings in homes with cold/hot attics or with living-attics, lofts, or mansards. Apartments on top floors, penthouses, and commercial buildings would obvoiusly benefit from it as well. As we know, ceilings that are made of either wood, metal, or concrete are structures with a small capacity to accumulate warmth and moisture from condensation. They are also the most exposed to heat loss and must be thermo-insulated. For this reason, EIOS Inside is extremely versatile and can be applied on either the ceiling or wall, directly on the structure or through a supporting suspended-ceiling on a steel structure.
These noticeable benefits from the Elimination of Condensation Technology are based on the concept of Non-Permissive Thermo-Insulating Assembly included in the NP-EIFS patent. By following the installation specifics and paying close attention to the intersections with different constructive elements, condensation is completely eliminated.
EIOS Inside ensures a high degree of thermal insulation, excellent support for applying the finishing touches, mostly eliminates the stress of condensation, mold, and degradation, and it guarantees a clean, healthy indoor environment.
EIOS Inside takes over the thermal insulating function for the false-ceiling along with the renovation of the existent one.
The best use of EIOS Inside Thermosystem begins by analyzing the following aspects:
-
The support element (wall, ceiling, suspended ceiling)
-
Resolving electrical installations which interfere with the system
-
The type of finish to be applied (Lamina + finishing, plasterboard, decorative ceilings, etc.)
-
Resolving continuity with other insulation systems, if possible (e.g., exterior wall insulation).
This analysis is done for free by EIOS experts and aims to establish the execution details by EIOS technology.
EIOS brings the world's only functional interior Thermosystem that has the ability to eliminate condensation-related problems. It is also the only wall system in the global market that dries out the area behind the insulation, while all other interior or interior cavities with permissive insulation systems brings a strong input for condensation intake with a serious risk of mold growing.
EIOS Inside is the first technical solution that can be applied to the interior without the risk of condensation, based on the Elimination of Condensation Technology and on the Principle of Avoiding Condensation application.
To do this and exceed customers’ expectations, EIOS ensures highly competent counseling through innovative engineering solutions and products of the highest quality standards.
EIOS Inside is an Over Specified Thermo-Insulation System for interior application that eliminates condensation by creating a Non-Permissive Thermo-Insulating Assembly (NP-IA).
The achievement of this assembly is ensured by applying the XPS boards with the EIOS invented Sealboard Joint Assembly to facilitate interior and exterior sealing. EIOS Sealboard panels can be considered as having zero permeability. An NP-IA is obtained through the high thermal resistance R-value and the EIOS Sealboard properties. They are extended to the entire considered construction element, which eliminates condensation due to warm vapor separation from cold areas via Non-Permissive thermo-Insulation.
Special attention is given to windows and door ends, interior walls and ceiling ends, as well as other constructive elements. It is necessary to prevent any convection or migration of warm vapor (with high relative pressure) behind the system. Also, contour sealing prevents the cold air convection that pushes from the outside during the winter.
Areas of application:
-
On the inside of the exterior walls, structural or closing walls;
-
On ceilings, structural or suspended ceilings;
-
On the last floor ceilings, homes, apartments, mansards, penthouses;

Interior walls and ceilings application, residential, commercial units, institutions, or industrial area;
-
New and retrofit constructions;
-
The best solution for renovating and reconstructing old houses with cracked ceilings or minimum thermal insulation value.
Application:
-
Directly onto the flat surface of the wall/ceiling or on the support structure, free of dust and grease;
-
Walls that contain different paints need to be stripped off and primed;
-
Water/air/vapor barrier is not applied under the EIOS Thermosystem, and the air-tightness of the structure is not required;

The environmental separator EIOS Thermosystem is created by non-permissive assembling EIOS Seaboards.
Inside finishing solutions:
-
Applying Lamina (the reinforcing layer) on the EIOS Thermosystem directly
The environmental separator, the insulation, and a strong support for inside plastering are now contained within a single system. The surface created is stronger than drywall and never cracks.
-
EIOS Inside with attachment system
This is the best solution when the design requires a suspended ceiling or cavity wall in order to accommodate electrical and mechanical systems. A strong attachment system is installed on the environmental separator (EIOS Thermosystem) for the installation of the suspended ceiling, drywall, and for other mechanical attachments.
It is well known that the air-ductwork system in a cold/hot attic performs poorly, loses energy, and has condensation and mold problems. EIOS solves all these problems by applying a continuous EIOS Thermosystem as the environmental separator on the ceiling and walls. All ductwork can be installed in the interior conditioned environment and has obvious advantages.
Functionality:
-
A Thermo-insulation that removes the condensation phenomenon and dries the surface (the wall) on which it is applied;
-
Thermo-insulation that is not affected by condensation, dampening, extreme weather conditions;
-
Thermo-insulation that keeps thermal transfer coefficients (λ, U, R) steady and that makes the capacity of the insulation material (XPS, polyurethane foam) 99.9% EFFECTIVE;
-
Creates a total separation and no physical-chemical interactions between the inside environment and the one behind the thermal insulation, allowing only a low heat transfer with maximum efficiency;
-
No mold, algae, or fungi growing behind the Thermosystem in the structural wall;
-
Eliminates all the problems related to condensation as long as EIOS specifications are followed;
